Jorge Baier and Carlos Hernández, associate researchers at Cenia, were honored with international recognition at the latest edition of the “Conference on Artificial Intelligence 2022”; event organized by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), a nonprofit scientific society devoted to advancing the scientific understanding of the mechanisms underlying thought and intelligent behavior and their embodiment in machines.
In collaboration with Nicolás Aburto, researcher at University of Valparaíso, they were part of one of the 6 recognized teams in the “Distinguished Papers” category. Their article entitled “Subset approximation of Pareto Regions with Bi-objective A*” stood out among an all-time record of more than 9.000 applications from all over the world.
Each year AAAI’s Conference on Artificial Intelligence honors papers that exemplify high standards in technical contribution and exposition. Papers were recommended for outstanding status by members of the Program Committee during the blind review process. The winning papers were determined by an independent award committee, based on a selection of papers comprising the highest ranked papers, as well as papers nominated by PC members, SPC members, or Area Chairs.Overall there were nine recognitions, three in the category of “Best Papers” and six as “Distinguished Papers”.
Chilean researchers Jorge Baier (PUC-Cenia), Carlos Hernández (UNAB-Cenia) and Nicolás Aburto (UV), became part of a select group of people whose work impacts heavily on the field of AI. In recognition of this achievement, this honor is listed on the AAAI-22 website.
